Karima 2G
Come join us for an intimate discussion with Karima 2G Liberian-Italian beatmaker, singer, songwriter, and activist. Her music style, called Bantu Juke Fever, is a mix of techno, hip-hop, reggae, Chicago Juke, and grime. Karima uses her music and artistry to address injustices and advocate for human rights. On June 7, 2020, Karima organized a protest rally in Rome in solidarity of Black Lives Matter bringing attention to the issues facing second generation Italians in Italy. Karima will discuss her music, activism, and her fight to be recognized as Italian. Discussion will be in English followed by a 15 minute discussion in Italian.
Moderated by: Dr. Sydney Conrad of VCU and Dr. Maureen Melita of Marist College, Co-Founders of Diversity, Transformation, & Italian Studies.
